Pastels

Tags

Although pastel colours have always been considered tasteful and some wardrobe essentials are best worn in these tones, it seems that 2013 has brought a revival of pastel colours to the fashion industry. Pastels have made a strong comeback this season, as it was evident during the London Fashion Week season 13.

The show started with a fantastic display of pastel undertones in Corrie Nielsen’s spring / summer 2013 collection, which featured super feminine gowns in colours like teal, peach, and silver grey.

French designer house Louis Vuitton is among the many renowned designers that have incorporated pastel colours into their latest summer collections. LV’s show was in fact a pastel rainbow, with beautifully cut garments and accessories in colours like lemon, pistachio, camomile, and peach.

Even designers that are usually know for their bold and daring creations managed to add some subtle splashes of pastel colours.

This is the case of Felder Felder, which has combined to perfection its trademark leopard prints with mint green, apricot, and turquoise tints.

Most of the UK’s leading fashion brands, including high street names, have adopted the pastel trend and we can now see gorgeous figure-hugging dresses, sleveless tops, and even leggings, in romantic baby pink, poppy red, aquamarine, ice blue, and blue violet tones. This is the case of clothing brands like Asos, Miss Selfridge, AllSaints, Warehouse, Topshop, and Zara.

You can also embrace this season’s pastel trend and add a delicate touch of romanticism and brightness to your wardrobe by following some simple tips.

For an ultra-feminine look you simply need to copy the catwalk style and go for a head-to-toe look in a pastel colour.

A-line dresses and floaty summer dresses are perfect to achieve this look. For a more subtle look, choose just one garment in a pastel tone (like a skater skirt, a blouse, or a cardigan), and team it with a flawless make-up do in pastel colours too. Do not be afraid to experiment, as there is bound to be a pastel colour that is just right for you!
